Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School is located in Guide Training FacilitiesThe Swan Valley to the west of the Continental Divide in the Northwest section of Montana often referred to as “Glacier Country”. As well as Glacier National Park, there are other popular attractions locally including the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Flathead Lake and Big Mountain Ski Area in Whitefish, Montana.

Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School has available through USFS and the State of Montana permits as well as the lodging facilities at Swan Mountain Guest Ranch, perhaps the best guide training facilities imaginable for a guide, outfitting and high adventure wilderness school experience.

Our Guide Candidate Program, Hunter and Adventurer Program are conducted from the base camp of Swan Mountain Outfitters located in the pristine Swan-Seeley Valley of Northwest Montana. The base camp is fully equipped with wall tents that have semi-permanent frames, platform beds constructed of plywood with 4 &1/2 inch foam mattresses, and each tent has wood burning stoves. There is a separate mess tent, tack and equipment tents, corral with allGuide Training Facilities livestock on the premises, and a large wall tent that is used as the classroom equipped with electricity, video monitors and state-of-the-art teaching aids. We even have WIFI available in camp for those that bring laptops, so you can search for jobs while in school! All the equipment and teaching aids used at Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School are top quality and up-to-date. Our philosophy is “the best-of-the-best”, and new equipment and stock are purchased regularly. As part of their Guide School experience, students have access to the infamous Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex as part of their training.

Our Outfitters Program is conducted at Swan Mountain Guest Ranch just 12 miles north of Swan Mountain Outfitters base camp also in the Swan-Seeley Valley of Northwest Montana. Participants will stay in the hunters cabin, dine in the lodge and take classes in a 4000 square foot shop that has been converted to a classroom.
